This includes those wishing to export all varieties of apples (Malus domestica) and pears, including Ya pear (Pyrus bretschneideri), European pear (Pyrus communis), Nashi pear (Pyrus pyrifolia), and Siberian pear (Pyrus ussuriensis), all of which are permitted for export to Thailand.

Registrations close on Wednesday, Friday 13th December 2019.

For specific information and responsibilities of exporting growers and pack house managers should access the current document Workplan Australian apple and pear exports to Thailand located on the Manual of Importing Country Requirements (MiCOR) website.

The full Industry Advice Notice (IAN) can be found on the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources website.

Note: Effective 25 August, 2018, the Thailand Ministry of Public Health, Food and Drug Administration (FDA) notified all trading partners of Requirements for Production Processes, production Equipment, Storage and Labelling of some fruit and vegetables (including apples and pears). These pack house requirements are in addition to any phytosanitary export requirements or import requirements of the Thailand Department of Agriculture.

The Australian Government has provided a submission to the Thailand Government on food safety schemes that meet the requirements, but has yet to receive a response. Australian exporters should communicate with their Thai importers and suppliers to ensure that all Thailand FDA food safety and phytosanitary requirements are met.
